We are proud to be a long-established training Practice. As part of our teaching commitment, doctors from other Practices occasionally visit us to assess the standard of our records and the care given. If you object to your notes being made available for this purpose please let us know.
Our doctors also occasionally record their consultations on video to assess and improve their skills. If you object to your consultation being recorded please let us know. As you would expect, the normal strict rules of confidentiality apply to these processes.
It is now recognised that General Practice can provide useful training for all young doctors. Our training offers include:
GP Registrar Training
GP Registrars are attached to the Practice for one year as part of the Vocational Training Scheme to complete their specialist GP training. GP Registrars are fully qualified Doctors who have already completed at least three years of hospital training.
Foundation Programme Doctor Training
Foundation Programme Doctors are attached to the Practice for four months as part of their foundation programme; a two-year training rotation for junior doctors which follows medical school. These doctors are fully qualified and will usually have completed at least one year of hospital training before coming to us. They are not training to be GPs, but attached to learn general skills and to gain a greater understanding of the practice of medicine in different settings.
Medical Student Teaching
We are sometimes joined by medical students from Brighton Medical School University, who sit in on surgeries, accompany doctors and nurses on visits, and may briefly see some patients on their own before being joined by the supervising professional. You will be informed if a medical student is present and be given the opportunity to say if you do not wish them to be there when you see the doctor or nurse.
Continued Professional Development
We are also committed to continually developing our own knowledge and skills. To that end, we regularly have education-based clinical and whole-team meetings, as well as covering business and administration matters.
